For Instructors

You teach people to fly. WingWrangler handles your scheduling, your students’ records, and the sign-off paperwork — so your time goes to flying, not filing.

This page covers the six things CFIs actually do here.

Students can only book you in windows you’ve opened. Set this up first.

  1. Open My Schedule → Availability.
  2. Add a recurring pattern — for example, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
  3. Block off anything that isn’t flying: checkride days, dentist, vacation. A single-day block or a few hours both work.

If you don’t mark yourself available, you won’t show up when a student tries to book — even if you’re free. So do this before your first week.

Dashboard shows your upcoming lessons and student status at a glance.

Training → My Students is your roster. For each student you can see where they are in the course, which maneuvers are done, which need work, and whether they’re ready for a stage check. The Stage Ready view filters to just the students who’ve finished their current stage — those are your scheduling priorities.

After each flight, open the post-flight debrief and mark each maneuver:

StatusWhen You Mark It
CompletedYou taught it. Exposure counts.
ProficientThe student flies it to ACS standard.
Needs WorkNot there yet — more practice scheduled.

The student’s progress record updates the moment you mark it. No paper lesson sheets, no month-end data entry.

When a student logs a training flight, the entry comes to you for review — you’ll get a notification.

Open Logbook → Pending, check the times, route, and landings against what actually happened, then:

  • Approve if it’s right. Both of you are recorded as certifying the entry — that’s the digital version of your signature in their paper book.
  • Return with notes if it’s off. They logged 3 landings and you remember 2? Kick it back; they fix it and resubmit.

Endorsements are legal documents under 14 CFR — WingWrangler makes the paperwork fast, not casual.

  1. Open the student’s profile → Endorsements.
  2. Pick the template — “Solo - Initial” pulls the correct 61.87 language automatically.
  3. Fill in aircraft make/model and any limitations (pattern only, day VFR, whatever you’re signing).
  4. Sign electronically. It’s timestamped and stored in their permanent record.

Billing → My Earnings shows your instructor hours and what’s accrued on them — the same numbers your school pays you from. Your CFI rate is set by the school; if it looks wrong, tell your admin before the month closes.
