Notifications
You get notified when it matters — booking confirmed, lesson cancelled, invoice due. WingWrangler delivers alerts through email, in-app, and SMS so nothing slips through the cracks.
Notification Flow
Section titled “Notification Flow”Something happens — a booking, a payment, a squawk filed — and the right people hear about it through the right channel. That’s the entire model.
Notification Types
Section titled “Notification Types”| Category | Triggers |
|---|---|
| Booking | You book N1234A for Tuesday at 0800 — confirmation lands immediately. Reminder hits 24 hours before. Cancellation notice if plans change. |
| Billing | Invoice generated, payment received, account overdue. Your bookkeeper sees it all. |
| Training | Student earns an endorsement, completes a stage check, or hits a progress milestone. Instructors and students both get notified. |
| Maintenance | Pilot files a squawk on the #2 nav radio. Maintenance gets the work order. Everyone tracking that tail number sees the status change. |
| Documents | Rental agreement needs a signature. Insurance cert uploaded. You’ll know. |
Delivery Channels
Section titled “Delivery Channels”| Channel | When You’ll See It |
|---|---|
| You’re away from the app. Invoices, confirmations, anything you need a paper trail for. | |
| In-App | You’re logged in and active. Instant delivery, no inbox clutter. |
| SMS | Time-critical stuff. Weather cancellation 30 minutes before your block time. Maintenance grounding your aircraft. |
Configuration
Section titled “Configuration”Admins set the defaults — which notification types are active, which channels they use, and when they fire. You control the rest at the user level. Don’t want SMS at 2200? Set quiet hours. Only care about booking notifications? Turn off the rest.
Timing Options
Section titled “Timing Options”| Timing | When to Use It |
|---|---|
| Immediate | Booking confirmations. Payment receipts. Anything you need to act on now. |
| Scheduled | ”Your flight is tomorrow at 0700” — sent the evening before. Reminders work best with lead time. |
| Batched | Your front desk doesn’t need 47 individual pings. Roll them into a daily digest. |
Automation Rules
Section titled “Automation Rules”Set rules and let the system handle the follow-up. Here’s what real flight schools automate:
| Trigger | Condition | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Student hasn’t flown | 30 days of inactivity | Ping their instructor — “Your student’s going stale” |
| Membership expiring | 7 days before renewal | Send renewal reminder with payment link |
| Maintenance item | Past due date | Alert the A&P — squawk’s been sitting too long |
Email Templates
Section titled “Email Templates”Your emails should look like they came from your school, not from generic software. Customize templates in Settings → Notifications → Templates. Add your logo, your dispatch number, your FBO address.
Delivery Tracking
Section titled “Delivery Tracking”| Status | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Sent | The notification left WingWrangler. |
| Delivered | The recipient’s mail server accepted it. |
| Bounced | Delivery failed. Bad email address, full inbox, or blocked domain. |
| Opened | They actually read it. |
If you’re seeing bounces, check the contact info on that user’s profile. Typos in email addresses are the #1 cause.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Not getting notifications? Walk the tree above. Nine times out of ten it’s a disabled preference or a bad email address. If the notification shows in your history but never arrived, check your spam folder. Still nothing? That’s a bug — contact support.
