Message Flow

You send a message. It’s delivered instantly. The recipient gets a notification whether they’re in the app or not.

Conversation Types

Two ways to talk: direct messages and group conversations.

Type	When You’d Use It
Direct	”Hey, your student’s solo endorsement expires Friday.”
Group	Coordinate a ground school class. Brief dispatch on a cross-country. Run a maintenance thread for N456AB.

Instructor-Student Chat

Your assigned students show up front and center — no scrolling through the whole roster. If you’re a student, your instructor is one tap away. Need to cancel tomorrow’s 0700 lesson? Send a message tonight instead of hoping they pick up the phone at 0500.

Notifications

You won’t miss a message. WingWrangler notifies you through three channels depending on where you are.

In-app	Badge count updates whenever you’re logged in.
Email	Catches you when you’re away from the app.
Push	Real-time alerts on your phone or tablet.

Note

You can mute any conversation to stop notifications while staying in the thread. Handy for group chats that don’t need your attention right now.

Message Features

Feature	What It Does
Formatting	Bold a tail number. Add a checklist. Structure your debrief notes.
Links	Drop in a link to a weather briefing, a ForeFlight plan, or a shared document.
Mentions	Tag someone by name. They’ll get a notification even if the conversation is muted.
History	Search past messages. Find that squawk description from last Tuesday.

Managing Conversations

Conversations pile up. Pin the ones you need daily. Archive the rest.

Action	What Happens
Pin	Stays at the top of your list. Pin your primary instructor chat or the dispatch group.
Archive	Moves out of your main view. The ground school thread from last semester doesn’t need to be front and center.
Leave	Removes you from a group conversation entirely.

Chat messages are stored and create a record. Your organization’s administrators may review message history. Treat chat like any other written communication at your flight school.

Deletion	Deleting a message may not fully remove it from records.
